“2012… In the garden of the conscious presence (without Dave)” aims to provide audiences with an experience that is both challenging & life affirming. The first act is fun, and there are characters that we either identify with or grow attached to in due course- including our tragic hero, Dave. The majority of the action takes place in the public gardens, or in Dave's flat. The second act is more demanding, possibly upsetting; here we witness the crumbling of the old, and are confronted with a new way of being that is as yet unrecognisable…

This work will be produced professionally & ready to tour nationally in 2009. However, there will be a local showing at the end of 2008, and possibly before that, underground style, if it's in the interests of the work's development.

This play is a daring response to the so-called '2012 prophesies'. It humourously frames where we are now, as a culture & as a society, before painting an extraordinary vision, which tackles the question,
'What does the future hold for Earth & humanity?'
The media is constantly bombarding us with pessimistic facts about our future; the ice caps will melt; it’s too late for the ozone layer, etcetera. Meanwhile, capitalism is rife, the conglomerates continue to consume; and despite deep concerns over these facts, most of us gallop ahead with our life-styles, presuming we did our bit by visiting the bottle bank! The Mayan's famous (5125 year cycle) long count calendar abruptly ends on December 21st 2012... Some believe this to be the second coming of Christ, others armageddon. Astronomers will confirm that a rare and curious alignment of planets at the centre of our Milky Way corresponds exactly with this date.
Could it be that these phenomena are linked directly to our symptoms of climate change?
